Nascar 2010 predictions
Since I'm in the itch for spring fishing and Nascar. Nascar comes first, in February.
Here are some predictions to make the chase this year:
Jimmie Johnson
Mark Martin
Jeff Gordon
Tony Stewart
Kurt Busch
Kyle Busch
Matt Kenseth
Clint Bowyer
Joan Montoya
Greg Biffle
Carl Edwards
Ryan Newman
This is not in order, but I don't predict Johnson to win the fifth championship in a row.
Three dark horses that may surprise us
1. David Reutiman
2. Joey Logano
3. Kevin Harvick
Junior will finish 14th to 19th somewhere.

Looks Like Mark Martin will not win
The man who has finished second four times before looks to be going for his fifth second place finish in the Nascar Sprint Cup. Maybe next year, in his final shot.

Mark Martin off to a bad year in 2009
Started 2nd and finished 16th in Daytona 500
Started in top 15 and finished 40th at California due to blown engine
Started in top 15 and finished 40th at Las Vegas due to blown engine
Started 1st and finished 31st due to crash caused by his own blown tire.
Is 34th in points :(
Next race is in two weeks and we hope for a top 5 finish.

Close and may upset: Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Juan Montoya, and Greg Biffle
Correct results:

10. Kyle Busch (8)
11. Matt Kenseth (0)
12. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (1)
Close: David Ragan, Kasey Kahne (2), Martin Truex Jr....
Most improved this year, especially second half and a real chance at the Chase next year: David Ragan and Jamie McMurray. Look for David and Mark Martin in the Chase next year in place of Tony Stewart and not sure who the other person will be that falls out. Daytona 500 is only 12 weeks. Git R Done!

Mark Martin full time in 09
Yepper, get those cans of Coke out and enjoy some racin' action next year. My guy Mark Martin will be back to drive in the 5 car for Hendrick Motorsports. One last try to win a championship. For this year, let's cheer for Carl Edwards to beat Kyle Busch and win the championship by 200 points after winning the last 5 races. He's second behind Kyle now in the point standings. As Ethan would say, "Dar, Dar," for "car."

Edwards Wins Again
Sweet. Now the points lead and his main components wrecked or had car problems (Gordon, Johnson, and Stewart). Junior was second, much to the happiness of my son Mark and trillions of fans. Mark Martin was tenth.
Mark Martin won the Nationwide race - his 46th win in that series (by far the most wins in that series by any driver).

Nascar at California Speedway
Race 2 of the 2008 Nascar Sprint Cup season has passed. My second favorite driver, Carl Edwards, of Missouri, won. Unfortunately, I missed his backflip from the Window. Carl is in the top ten in points right now. Sweet! No win this week Gorden, Johnson, or Stewart. Tune in next week for the following Top 5 finish:
1. Mark Martin, 2. Carl Edwards, 3. Greg Biffle, 4. Ryan Newman, and 5. Jeff Burton. Stewart will blow an engine on the first lap.

Newman Wins Daytona 500
Okay, Mark Martin did not win. He was doing decent until he ran over debris and lost two tires. Since no one else hit the debris, he was 2 laps down, then got back up to about 15th until he ran into a car that just hit the wall. He finished 31st but was on the lead lap. I cannot com
plain, though, because Ryan Newman, a likeable guy, won by getting help from his teammate, Kurt Busch, to beat my not-so-favorte Tony Steward. Any Nascar fan knows that Kurt and Tony are probably the least friendly to each other in the series. Sweet that Tony did not win, nor did Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon. They win all the time.

Neck'car 2008 here soon with Daytona 500 approaching
I know all ya'll are bummed out that Mark Martin did not win the Daytona 500 last year, losing on the last lap by less than 0.08 second to Kevin Harvick. But in three weeks he gets his chance again, only this year he drives the #8, which everyone south of Interstate 80 knows is the car formerly driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior is now part of the elite Hendrick Motorsports. Since Mark is only driving a partial schedule this year, he won't win his first championship. I'll handicap my projections for Nascar this year. Since the top twelve make the "Chase" format for a playoff, here is my projections (victories in parenthesis)
Winner: Jimmie Johnson (7)
2. Jeff Gordon (4)
3. Matt Kenseth (4)
4. Denny Hamlin (3)
