This Saturaday, we spent some time in Des Moines with my wife and some friends on a hot date to HuHot and other fun places. Even shopping wasn't torture. Glad to get away from the kids and spend some lovey time. HuHot was good as always and I was very full of spicy stir fry. Our friends from Oklahoma, Tina and Joseph, surprised us by driving all the way here. They didn't bring the 50-degrees with them. Oh well, winter will be over eventually. Al Gore promised.

This week we had 12" of snow followed by 40 MPH northwest winds. About 5-below zero last night and 10 above today. Drifts as tall as 6 feet here and there and along some large buildings over 12 feet I saw yesterday before. We'll have a white Christmas. Only six months until Summer.

One of my favorite thing about fall is the leaves that fall and winter stars that rise. The times can be so beautiful, with all the stars that come in so clear on a dry night with no humidity. Orion is my favorite, followed by the Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. God is good.

Church family fun night

Instead of the typical door-to-door trick or treating, this year our family is planning to attend a family fun night at our church. The event is open to the community on Oct. 31 from 5 to 8. We'll have fun games, candy, food, fellowship, and things for kids to take home with them. We hope to get lots of people out for this.

Ozark Trip

My fair and hot lady and I went to the Lake of the Ozarks last week. It was so much fun and just an awesome time. Lots of rain, but we got to see some friends while in parts of Missouri and we got to go to some cool local restaurants, jet skiing, swimming, hiking, sight-seeing, and visiting a cave. Congress, in the midst of the health care debate, is working to pass a kickback to the homosexuals who helped elect the Democrats to power. The ENDA or Employment Non-Discrimination Act is designed to criminalize private and nonprofit organizations and individual who wish to have a choice as to who they hire. This law, if passed, is a disaster for any Christian. As believers in Christ and citizens in a republic with limited Constitutional powers of central government, we should have no doubt about the importance in the right to use our conscience when making business and organizational decisions. This law would make Christians criminals if we do not hire a homosexual or trans-sexual or maybe even a pedophile. Even if the reason for the selection had nothing to do with this so called "orientation", the person denied a job or contract or other benefit could sue that we willfully discriminated. Excuse me, but are we not suppose to discriminate when we hire. Don't we look for qualifications, physical ability to do the work, personality traits that complement the need. Insane!!!

You notice how the attacks against Christianity and issues of righteousness are continually on great levels of attack. It is very difficult to stay involved and stay in front of everything. Language and sex on TV, the gay agenda, attacks on prayer in school and public places, family issues, abortion, revisionist history, evolution in schools, immoral sex education in elementary schools, eroding our national sovereignty, illegal aliens, double-standards on the rich, poor, minorities, politicians, and many other issues that continually bombard us. mn vacation

This week we went to Minnesota to visit some family and friends. We went fishing and tubing in a boat. Then I helped cut down some trees for a friend. I had the pleasure of catching a 27+ inch northern pike. Plan to eat it soon. I also got an excellent sunburn when we did the tubing. Lots of fun and few or no regrets. Wish we could stay longer but we are all busy. Great to visit other Christians and churches where we go.

All Christians need to know a Barnabas and aspire to be like him. This Bible man was nick-named the "son of encouragement" for a reason. When someone was needed to put a good word about someone or something, Barnabas was it. He did it regularly, no matter the situation. When others had anger, fear, and doubt about Paul after his conversion to Christ, Barnabas had faith in God to accept Paul and give others encouragement to accept him too. Barnabas was the same way with John Mark (who wrote the book of Mark) after he abandoned Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey. What did Barnabas do? He stood for Mark and took him on another mission. Paul later called Mark a valuable part of Paul's ministry. What changed? Barnabas believed in potential, not what was the seen here and now. He saw the good in people and went out in faith that God would develop the good. He took the rejects and the scorned and gave them a fresh start, and they proved him right for doing so. Oh for more men and women like him today.

The Joy of mowing

First camping trip of the summer

I enjoyed having the opportunity to go camping at Springbrook State Park in our state with my family and two of our kid's friends. Highlights included fishing, crickwalking in a pristine stream, hiking, and of course the campfires and smores. Gets us away from the headaches of life. Went to church in a small town and barely got there before church was out. Oops. Camping experiences prove God exists.

As I prepare to pay a $1,1oo+ bill to get stitches in my leg this spring and my wife has no insurance, I understand the need is there to improve the healthcare system. It needs several repairs:
1. tort reform
2. insurance reform
3. paperwork reduction
4. electronic records
5. many others.

Affordability is a huge problem. However, it will not be more affordable to the nation if we make it free for almost everyone. Let's develop a common-sense approach that stops people from falling through the cracks but does not reward illegal aliens and abortions.

Adventureland

We had a fun week last week, going to Adventureland with friends Tina and Joseph and then the next day Mark, Angie, and I went to an Iowa Cubs game. We had lots of fun. Ethan, 2, did well at Adventureland, loving every ride we went on, including the water rides and even the Underground dark roller coaster.

The fireworks show made up for a lackluster ballgame. We hope to do it more in the future.

Successful time at Bible Camp

Well, the kids are home from Bible Camp, and all had a good time and hopefully a learning time. The kids brought home a bunch of frogs and toads, over a dozen total. Ours kept some and gave the rest away to the other kids who came and wanted frogs (Mark's friend Heaven). We had to let the frogs go after a few died. Mark and Jesse won Bible drills. I still don't know which tribe won the awards. I'll have to find out. Next week Mark is off to Boys' Camp, where he'll learn more about boy stuff, like fire, fishing, football, etc. We try to keep him away from firearms. God bless y'all.

6 campers plus Alexis (too young to be a camper) Went with Angie to Sharon Bluff Bible Camp this week. One was not from our church, so we are hoping she may be an eventual convert. It is Mark's good friend Heaven. The other 5 campers are from our church and one is a Christian. We are very excited.

I hope they have fun and learn a lot.

Iowa football coach murdered at school

The highly profiled killing today of a top-rated and popular football coach in small-town Iowa brings to the forefront the problems young people face today in a Godless school system. The youth, a 24 year old former player for the successful coach, apparently was disgruntled with the coach and has since "fallen through the crack" with the law. He had encounters with the law in the past week.

This young man decided that his life had no value. The evolutionary theory he was surely taught tells us he is a highly evolved primate with no goal except to survive. Live beyond self preservation and self gratification has little meaning. Self loathing is the dark side of the hedonism of moral relativism that comes from the evolutionary theory and junk science people are taught today from Freud to many others.

Only when we turn to God and love ourselves and each other because of God's love and mighty creation will we not turn to destroy others in our self-pity.

Why are we so busy?

Why are we such a busy society that we fail to do what God would have us do? We know the devil goes around and tries to distract us. He knows our weaknesses and we simply fall into his traps. We get too busy to pray for God's help in fighting this trend. The very thing we need the most is what gets left out so we cannot overcome the problems. It reminds me of Paul's struggle in his letter to the Corinthians. I do what I don't want and I don't do what I want. How are we going to live as Christ did? Only first by taking a step back, organizing our life, and going forward in Him fully and prayerfully.

Hebrews 5:9

Hebrews 5:9 is worth reading and meditating upon. We see from this verse that Jesus is the source of eternal salvation of those who obey Him. Obeying anyone is not a hot word today. Christ is no exception. We want to be saved, but we don't want to have to obey anything. However, to become saved in the first place, we must obey Jesus. Salvation is possible without it. We begin by obeying the gospel. This truth, taught in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, tells us that we are separated from God eternally if we fail to obey it. However, today many religious people who are good moral believers fail to accept this. They say we simply must believe the Gospel, not obey it. Give consideration for this.

Tiller's Death

We now see the major mainstream media making attacks and accusations against "anti-abortion" people like me. The media would never do such investigating if one of our people were killed by the pro-abortion side. Now the media is trying to find out what groups helped lead this man to do such a crime. While I don't condone this behavior, I was by no means saddened by Tiller's death. The man murdered 60,000 babies and I do not want to know what his eternity is now. It was just too bad the man did not have a chance to repent before he died. Let us pray for healing in our land and forgiveness of those who have had part in abortions and in killing those who perform them.

Man Is Arrested for Protesting School Field Trip

Grandma

Some of you know that my grandmother Alma had a sudden stroke and died a few days later last week. Happy Mother's Day. She was at a graduation party. It was and still is a shock to us all, as she was in great health (at least it seemed).

What we all loved about grandma is she was a glue that kept our family going. She arranged and held many of the family gatherings, even when her first husband was very sick for years and when she was alone for years after his death. She was fun-loving and always had a good comeback to any joke or situation.

No favorite memory, but just have that sense that she was such a great part of my life.

One other side-note. She knows what to give me for my birthday: cash!

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day will not be all that great for me. For the first time, I won't have a biological mother. Thankfully, I have a wife who is a mother and as a Christian there are motherly ladies who are like a spiritual mother to me. Amen to this family I have from God. If your mother is still alive, so something special with her this year. You don't know when the last Mother's Day will come. You don't want to regret what you missed like I do. Blessed is the man who has a Godly mother. Do your best by being a Godly child. Who knows, it may convert a mother who has yet to see the light of the world.

Bike A Thon

Our kids were in the Mayflower Heritage Christian School bike-a-thon this year again. They both (Mark and Alexis) were in it. Mark rode 24 miles and Alexis 26. Surprised? I'm not. Alexis may be a girl and 1.5 years younger, but she is very athletic. Mark spent lots of time resting and hanging out with Heaven (oo hoo). I think Lexy was showing of to the 1st and 2nd grade boys (who are very competitive). We are in big trouble when she turns 11. I need to get a gun and chastity belt.

Can I get a ......... style/position license?

Folks,
We know that our state's legislature (er... supreme court) has decided that we need to issue gay marriage licenses. Don't the people realize the gay people are not treated unfairly under our laws. They have the same rights to marry that I do. I can marry my wife Angie, and they can marry any Angie that agrees to marry them. Apparently the justices do not eat Wheaties and they have a foggy mind sometimes. Anyway, somehow people believe that this ruling automatically means we should issue marriage licenses to people of the same gender. No, this ruling does not do that. It simply tells the legislature that they should pass a law allowing for same-gender marriages. Simply by ruling unconstitutional a law does not create marriage for a new class. If that is the case, and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is thrown out, it would mean anarchy in terms of marriage. There are no laws on the topic in this philosophy, so anyone can marry. So can I have special rights in marriage because I love my dog, my children, or a certain sexual position? Special tax bracket? Don't you see the absurdity? How about if I am a pedophile or necrophiliac? (hope you didn't just finish eating)

Point is this: we need to have laws to determine what marriage is, not merely allowing anything by striking down the law that determined what marriage is. Too bad our legislature was too "busy" to deal with this legislative problem. God sees what is going on.

Big Leg Injury

We all know the old saying, "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." Well, it may not always be true. A piece of advice: when fishing with your children and they see your example, don't go out on a piece of riprap rock and stand on it. The rock may crumble. Just after we caught two nice crappies two weeks ago today, I went on this rock and when I went to turn to get off the rock, half of it simply disintegrated under my weight. The part that did not disintegrate decided to cut my leg and wrist all up as I fell into the water. Needless to say, we left and were done fishing for the day. It was about sunset anyway. I hadn't bled much, so I went home to clean up and take a shower. When I got ready for the shower, I realized I had a 5 inch long cut that went to the muscle. It was open over a half inch wide. So I had to take the kids, since Angie was not home yet from a trip, with me to the hospital and get 14 stitches. Or as Ethan calls them, "itches." They are out now, but my leg is still sore. It does not help that I got sick about the same time. But, I cannot wait to go out and catch some more hawgs.

Mark Martin Wins Race

Whooooooooooooo! The Old Man won his first Nascar Sprint Cup race since 2005. One thing I love when Martin wins a race is that the other drivers come up and congratulate him. He is very much respected by other drivers and team owners. His win a Phoenix was in the 8th race of the year and got him up to 13th in points after being down to 34th in points a few weeks ago. Next race is this Saturday.

Proud to be an Iowan?

As many of you know, the Iowa Supreme Court issued a decision that effectively strikes down Iowa's version of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which has been part of the Iowa Code for over ten years. The action of the court has essentially removed the main obstacle for homosexuals to request marriage licenses. Now, anyone knows that the action of the court cannot legalize anything but only make judgements as to the Constitutionality of an existing law, which then generally requires the jurisdiction affected, in this case the State of Iowa, to address the problems with the law. However, in no way does this allow for or even more require the State to issue licenses for marriage of anyone not already called for in state law outside of the DOMA law. Because the Democrats are in favor of this abomination to right and wrong, there will be no effort to fix the problems and protect God's design and common sense when it comes to marriage. My solution, let's counter-sue, call in your dog Fido, and ask why you cannot marry him. You see where this is going! We cannot allow 5,000 years of tradition and man's oldest institution to be trampled.

Hebrews 4:1-2

Can we fall short of the promise of eternal rest in Christ? Sure we can, but how?

One of Hebrews' central themes is that we can lose out on our Sabbath Rest, which is not a Saturday but Heaven forever. It is because of unbelief, either the loss of or never obtaining a kind of faith that saves. In other words we can hear the truth of the gospel and then reject it.

Romans 10:17 tells us the faith comes by hearing, but only by the Word of Christ. If we hear but then don't hear, we fail to grasp faith. Without faith, we cannot please God. Even if we were once saved and that salvation is eternal, Hebrews tells us we can harden out hearts, as the Hebrews did in the Sinai desert. Praise be to God that he is patient and willing to wait 40 years or more for us to repent and turn or return (whichever is the case with you) to Him.

Ready to catch some fish

Spring fever is setting in with a few 70 degree days. Can't wait to go out and catch some fish. Fishing is a great Christian exercise. You interact with nature, you relax, you enjoy small talk or serious talk with a friend or time to pray or meditate alone. Personally, I love panfishing or bass fishing on a warm spring day when the spawn gets going. It won't be long. I better get my license. If you are a Christian, I encourage you to fish, too. No better way to reduce stress and refocus while outdoors on a warm day.

Hebrews Chapter 1-2

Hebrews is a very rich book, even for the most Gentile of Christians. We are reminded how God in Christ is such a powerful and majestic God who became man. When reading this, how can one not wish to have a personal relationship with the one who created us. He is higher than the angels. He ministers to us. He created the angels to minister us. He calls us to him as heirs of a mighty throne and as brothers, sisters, and sons. He humbled Himself to allow us to be close to His perfection despite the fact that all of us sins. He knows our nature and fellowships with us despite the fact that He is God.

For an atheist, there is no relationship with any God.
For a Hindu or Buddist, there is only ceremonies and not relationship with God.
For a Muslim, you die for your god.
As a Jew, you serve a God who has moved on to a better relationship. Your relationship is through a goat or lamb.
For a Christian, your God dies for you so you can live with Him forever.

Abortion to expand greatly under Obama Administration

To date, with little real criticism, Obama has overturned three Bush policies that will cause abortions to explode in America:
1. Ended the Mexico City policy, one that uses tax dollars from US persons to pay for abortions overseas. This is both murder and unconstitutional.
2. Signed an unconstitutional executive order to remove the rights of doctors and others in the medical community to refuse abortificative treatments on the grounds of conscience.
3. Overturned the Bush policy forbidding the use of taxpayer money on embryonic stem cell research. Also unconstitutional use of tax funding. Can't the private sector fund this. What is the cancer fundraiser funds being used for?! Adult stem cells are easy to get and we don't want to fund them. This is a political ploy by the pro-abortion community to get funding for abortions. Why do we throw away the umbilical cord and placenta rather than save that! Govt funds can help us preserve these things.

We watch while abortion explodes and we stare at our checkbook and paycheck and stock report. Not I. We need to fight against these things and pray to our God!

Dan Smith Revival

Our family was blessed to have Dan Smith, evangelist from Ottumwa, over to our home for two nights for a mini revival meeting focused on working in unity under the leadership in the ministry of Christ.

It was a great blessing to have Dan over and learn from him both at church and while he stayed at our home. His messages were both uplifting but also very thought provoking and convicting.

Being a Christian means thinking more than about myself, my job, my family. Dan helped me focus on what it means to be a minister and servant in the Lord's church. Only when we work as a team can we grow into the bride of Christ He deserves.

Topics came from Ephesians: What we have from the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Unity of the Spirit and Body; and Working the Ministry God has given us.

Pro Choice?

President Obama intends to or may already have signed a law or some document overturning Bush's policy commonly called the "conscience doctrine." This doctrine allows a doctor or other health professional to deny any type of medication or treatment related to or potentially causing abortion. It gives the doctor a choice to say, "No I will not prescribe this pill or that procedure, but you can go to another caregiver that will." Obama's plan will take this right of choice away from the doctor.

Now tell me, how can the pro-abortion side say they are "pro-choice." Pro-choice is okay as long as abortion at the whim of the woman is the only choice. Let's see how the "pro-choice groups in the nation stand on this. They don't care about the doctor's choice.

President's Economic Speech

You won't hear too many praises about the new President, but he spoke with clarity and conviction tonight about his vision for this country. While I don't trust him and his people surrounding him to do lead our nation to a notable recovery, I commend him for his sincerity and for saying things that are no always popular with his own party and those that vote for him. I reserve judgement for now, because I'd like to see his budget. What do you think of this speech?

How does this relate to us fighting the good fight? I am not sure, but we as Christians need to stand firm for what made America great and be there for those hurting in our current national situation.

Honoring our Leaders

We had a good discussion today about the passage in Acts 22 related to respecting your leaders. In this passage, Paul calls the high priest a whitewashed tomb. He is rebuked for his disrespect of a leader of the people, a command in the Law of Moses. He repents but no apology is given, because, I believe Paul stood by his words about the man. So what is the fine line of standing for God and yet not disrespecting the human leader? I think, from studying other examples in Scripture, that a Christian is to stand strong on the truth but not personally attack the leader and not disrespect the office. Certainly, we are not to hate our leaders, even if we hate their actions and policies. Pray for them and honor them, but don't just ignore their actions.

Leaky Toilet

A murder that will most likely not make the news headlines, not raise so much as an eyebrow on the national news. It won't, but it should.
Why should this murder be more important than hundreds of others that go unnoticed every day?
Because the case of Shanice Williams is a barometer of where this nation IS ... not where it is going ... but where it is.
Here's the sad story of her death.
Shanice's mother, an 18-year-old, wanted an abortion. Her doctor gave her medication she would take for a couple of days prior to the abortion ... medicine that would cause her to deliver the baby early. In case you aren't familiar with this procedure, it is preparatory to a partial birth abortion.
The doctor, however, did not show up on time for the actual abortion. So Shanice was born at 23 weeks. Shanice and her mother looked each other in the face. In that instant, her mother bonded with her. In that instant, her 18-year-old mother realized it had been a human being inside her, not just a blob.
Before anything else could happen, the owner of the abortion clinic (not a licensed doctor) came in and cut the umbilical cord. Then took Shanice and put her in a garbage bag which was then thrown out into a dumpster.
Shanice's body was recovered by police, an autopsy performed, confirming she was breathing on her own when she died.
If this doesn't bother you about where we ARE as a nation, I don't know what will.
What's worse is that Shanice's mother has hired an attorney and has filed a lawsuit. Maybe she should. But I have very little sympathy. She was old enough to do the deed, but living with responsibility is now a rare thing.
What really should happen is this. She went for an abortion, she took the medicine, she went to the clinic. As long as she didn't have to see her daughter, she was willing to let her baby be killed because ... Shanice was an unwanted pregnancy, an inconvenience and hardship.
The reality is Shanice's mother should be prosecuted for murder. Along with the doctor, the clinic owner, and anyone else who assisted.
But that won't happen. Why?
Because our nation has become so desensitized to killing babies, that we don't really care about it any more. And we're so easily swept with emotions of sympathy for a struggling mother who just had "no other way out." But now, she is having a hard time with it having looked her baby in the face.
But the truth is, we don't really care about Shanice or her mother. We care more about bigger issues than throwing babies out in the garbage: like the economy, hard times, unemployment, stock prices.
Where do you stand? Is the economy more important than protecting little babies like Shanice? Is money a bigger "moral" issue than innocent, helpless babies?

As a believer in the Bible, I know the Bible is a perfectly prophetic book. Each prophecy eventually comes to pass. In the Book of Matthew, he raises a prophesy from the Old Testament prophet Isaiah. Verse 12: "And His name will be the hope of the entire world." Of course you are thinking this was fulfilled in Christ.

You are WRONG.

Do you know the "messiah" has now come and walks among us.

I recently heard some college student quoting on the radio with words describing Barack Obama in very Messianic words. People truly believe their hope is in this man. It is amazing, that our government is so powerful that people think Big Brother will take care of us. Besides, who needs a father at home when Uncle Sam can take care of us.

Sorry, but Barack is no messiah. He is a good family man, but he is only a very over-hyped politician that we really do not know what he stands for. Do no be deceived.

Listen and you will see how people make this man to be their hope. Sorry, but mine rose from a grave on the third day, taking my sins to death and burying them forever. AMEN.

It is not a secret that I don't support Obama. As a Christian, I have fears about what the people in his leadership will attempt to do to this nation and to the values I hold dear.

Consider the following. Obama's success to make it to office is in part due to the current mentality of our people. No doubt the failures of Republican leadership helped, but just consider this.

No democracy can last forever because as long as people can vote to give themselves handouts, the nation cannot sustain itself. The cycle is as follows (the Bible supports this pattern over past history):
Oppression leads to revolution and freedom
Freedom leads to honoring God
Honoring God leads to prosperity
Prosperity leads to compacency
Complacency leads to apathy
Apathy leads to laziness
Laziness leads to dependence
Dependence leads to subjection
Subjection leads to oppression

We need to continue to pray for this nation and for the things that are most important.

A fine lady

As many know, my mom passed away on December 31, 2008, at 5 PM. This is a sad and difficult time for our family, but God is seeing us all through it. Please continue to pray for us, and that the remaining family would be saved by God's grace. I did not realize how much my mom was loved until her death. She had over 300 people sign in at the visitation and almost as many for the funeral. In total over 400 people visited and took part. For a humble woman with no prestige, our family was inspired. 1 Year Anniversary

After almost one year since starting this blog, I have of course not met my expectations. I planned on doing lots more with it and really using it to get out ideas and tell the world about Jesus and His word. I guess my time just does not add up to the excitement I had when I started.

Here's what to look for in 2009 from me.
1. More personal stuff (photos like my wife's blog has and thoughts about my family and home)
2. More information on my goals and ideas for the future.
3. More business dreams stuff.
4. More deep Bible stuff from the storm in my mind.
5. My sermons, if I can figure out how to do slide shows.
6. More information on my work and cool projects going on out there.
7. Hopefully less politics, at least as a percentage of total additions.

Pray for us, as we plan to read the Bible together as a couple this year.

Remember that the new year brings about NEW OPPORTUNITIES:

My mother

As my few readers know, my mother is very sick. She is dying. I can tell you she has been a great mom over these years. When I was growing up, she would pray for me and help me with things like homework, problems I was having at school and work, and issues with friends. When my friends, brother, and I slept in our tent in the back yard and snuck out at night to run the streets, and cause trouble, she rarely failed to catch us. She was the common sense source for me and often enabler of my lack of common sense. She was always there to bail me out of problems but never made me not learn from them and then be a better person. She kept with us despite our family issues - unruly kids and a husband who once drunbk too much alcohol. We all really respect her because she was and is a strong woman and one who would lead in the times of need, especially during my teen years. I thank her and love her.

Hebrews Study

In our church adult class we are covering the book of Hebrews. Now this book breathes fighting the good fight. The book starts off with the author's proposition: Jesus is preeminent and majestic. The book proves this with three main points: 1) He is higher than the angels, 2) His law supplants Moses' Law, and 3) His covenant supplants the sacrefices of the High Priests. I hope to blog about this amazin' chapter in the weeks to come.

Remember, in these last days, He speaks to us through His sons. Someday we will judge the angels. IN HIS LOVE and GRACE.

Exciting Times for the Lord's Church

This is an exciting time to be part of the church of Christ in our town. We had a man and his wife along with his 4 kids visit this past Sunday and preach and then answer questions from the audience. He is a young guy about age 30 and a godly man. I think he will be an excellent addition to our church and a good evangelist. He is a humble individuals but very idealistic. I think our church would be an excellent starting point for his ministerial work. We cannot wait for their final decision as to moving here and being part of our church. May the Lord bless us. Amen! And may we be worthy servants.

Why Conservatives Lost the Election

There is widespread speculation as to why the Republicans, including m0st conservatives, lost the election. Some say even the focus on social issues is the main cause. I strongly disagree. Here are the main reasons, period:
1. Voters took out the economic uncertainty on the President. This is expected, especially when the mainstream media was quick to paste the blame on W. Because the President was already not very popular, it was easy to "clean house" of his party.
2. Voters believed the message of change at a time of an unpopular President. They did not see Republicans as agents of change.
3. They weighed W's incompetence much higher than the Dem's incompetence at running the Congress, which had only 9% approval rating.
4. Voters fell for Obama's charisma. It did not matter what he said, the public wanted to hear it. Reminds me of Hitler.
5. Republicans have abandoned conservatism and the party platform in order to out-left the left.
6. Republicans have simply been unable to develop a clear and concise message, such as the 1994 "Contract with America."
7. Democrats have out-strategized and out campaigned Republicans at all levels, so that even better Republicans have been beat.
8. Republicans simply have not had the best candidates or were unwilling to back those that were. Consider my county in Iowa, Union County. Our county went for Obama by 51% to 48% or so. Our congressman Steve King, who is very conservative fiscally and socially, got well over 60% of the vote in our county. Another lady in an open seat State Senate race won the county by over 55%. When the message gets out and the candidate campaigns well, he or she can win in a Democratic year.
9. Republicans are infighting in Iowa right now. The right leaders are needed to ensure that the entire platform is advanced, social, fiscal, economic, and foreign issues. The Dems are taking advantage by putting in somewhat conservative candidates and stealing seats.
10. Illegal money is coming into campaigns. Gay agenda money is being used to target and oust good conservative candidates. The church is too spineless or ambivalent to go in and fight back.
11. 2 Chronicles 7:14: The church is not seeking God and demanding Godliness in their candidates and voting for what is right instead of their pocketbooks.
12. The financial crisis hit at a bad time for the Republicans in office and they did not have a clear message, except the bailout, which was the wrong message, to solve it. Without clear alternatives, the Democrat's approach for big government made sense. Now, we'll pay for it.

Any other suggestions?? Why not add a 13th.

Recent letter to the editor I wrote

To the editor:

It is becoming abundantly clear that the election this fall from the top of the ticket down to the local races will be about the economy. The majority of the people will vote based not on facts and ideas but on perceptions. That being said, we should look through the smoke to the fire that is burning the life of this nation. While I am a fully unashamed conservative and Christian, and I believe that individual responsibility is paramount and that the government role is not to protect the economy but to ensure that people are not abused by its excesses, I am also quick to put the blame of the current credit crisis on both major political parties and the companies that abuse the public trust.

Therefore, let me present 7 general root causes for this financial mess in which we find ourselves:
1. Americans are greedy people as a general rule. We must spend more than we make and still feel our lives are lacking. Only worldly goods can fill this void in our souls, we think, so in good times and bad, we overspend. When bad times arise, such as exploding gas prices (hence exploding inflation to almost all goods and services we buy), we have no choice but to give up something. Since laws are in place to make it hard to foreclose on our homes, the housing payment is often first to go.
2. Politicians have been bought off by Wall Street and others. Powerful and rich CEOs and others have purchased our national leaders of both parties over the past two decades to write the laws to favor loose reporting and monetary policies. This has exacerbated the credit concerns by making it very easy to give out excessive amounts of credit when the economy is humming along. Now, when these CEOs shuffle through Congress for these hearings, one thing you do not see is them getting hauled off the jail and their assets being confiscated to pay for the damage they have done to their shareholders, employees, and taxpayers. That is why Congress votes to print more money and borrow more from China to do this bailout that the public hates.
3. Politicians are scared to death of political correctness. Primarily lead by Democrats in Congress, especially the likes of Barney Frank, who I believe is the most incompetent person in Congress, banks and other lenders are called to account if they practice any real discretion in the issuing of credit. If a bank wants to hold to traditional underwriting criteria, they are vilified as racist, because minorities tend to be unable to afford traditional loan terms. Hence, people are given loans they have no business accepting because they cannot pay them off if the interest rate increases or the cost of living rises.
4. Lenders use predatory lending practices. Lenders are taking advantage of loose regulations and Congressional/Presidential demands to flood the market with credit, seeing this as an opportunity to make money. In order to offer such low rates when credit is easy to find is to give them variable rates and even more predatory terms and then tell their loan officers that they will get a commission on every loan you make. Many loan officers, wishing to make money in the short-term, will make loans with the company’s assets to people whom they would never dream of lending with their own money, because they know the people are not credit-worthy. As long as the company approves the ratios, the loan is made anyway and the broker gets the commission. The bank or mortgage company will sell the loan on the open market and bundle it as stock. As long as the economy goes strong, there is no worry about a small amount of loans failing.
5. The economy is only strong when we overextend ourselves. Notice how Congress and our President are seeking to inject funds into our economy to remove the credit crunch, as it is called. This is because our economy cannot grow at a satisfactory pace if there is not enough easy credit to allow people to borrow money to make investments, entertain themselves, or purchase goods and services. The last thing our government wants is for us to quit buying on credit and overextending ourselves.
6. The Democratic Party, in particular, has wanted to lower the value of homes, i.e. slow the market down, to make homes more affordable due to their class warfare mentality. This practice diminishes the value of our greatest asset, all in the name of making homeownership affordable to all. Well, perhaps homeownership is not for everyone, at least not all at one time. While I am certainly all for affordable housing, I am not for homes valued less than the debt against them.
7. We are not pumping oil out of Iraq like crazy. We should be pumping so much oil out of Iraq to a) pay off the costs of our presence there and reconstruction, and b) flood the market so the prices go down. With $1.75 gas we can afford to buy gas and pay our mortgage payment at the same time.

Certainly, the economic problems we face are real. The corruption in both parties, their lack of leadership, their looking away from predatory lending practices, and the liberals’ effort to play political correctness and call homeownership a right has brought down our national economy. It sounds like conservatism with strong leadership will be necessary to stop the continued funneling of money into this socialist bailout. Taking action on the above seven issues would help, but I think our government, especially if liberal Democrats win at all levels, will solve this by increasing taxes, printing too much more money, and indebting us all the more to Communist China and the terrorists in the Middle East.

Cell Phone Vs. the Bible

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to our kids as a gift?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being 'disconnected' because of an unpaid bill.
Jesus already paid the bill in-full.
And just think--no dropped calls! God hears them all!

Obama and the American Flag

Perhaps there are SOME out there who are beginning to get 'the picture'. From Sunday's Televised 'Meet the Press' Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance, Sun, 07 Sept 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, 'Stand and Face It.'

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it. 'We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine.' Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our country's First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President.

During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people
who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute
to collectively pray for the safety of England , its people and peace.
This had an amazing effect - as bombing stopped.
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America .

'They Didn't Prepare Me For the Horror'
Women Aren't Told of the Impact of Abortion

In a previous excerpt from her book Giving Sorrow Words: The Unspoken Pain of Abortion, journalist and women's rights advocate Melinda Tankard Reist discussed how inadequate and deceptive pre-abortion counseling contributes to the lack of choice. In this excerpt, she describes how women are often not told of the potential risks of abortion, and how it affects them.

Many women were not aware of the potential physical and psychological complications of abortion.
Most women said they were totally unprepared for what they would go through during the abortion—and after. They felt cheated that abortion was presented as something quick and easy and over with when the reality for them was very different.

For example, Melody felt totally unprepared for the experience of the abortion she had in 1990:
The doctor and nurse ... didn’t prepare me for the horror of termination ... I thought my uterus was being sucked out ... I could hear them saying it was a healthy nine-week-old fetus and everything was intact ...

Carol also describes her experience:

It has been ten years now, almost to this day, and I can still remember, clearly, those fatal few minutes that I will regret to my dying day. The abortionist did not speak or look at me except to growl, “Be quiet and keep still,” when I began to shake and cry against my own will as I felt his cold, sharp instruments cutting out the life that had been growing inside me for the past three months. The sound of the fetus dropping into the plastic bucket held between my legs is a sound I cannot erase from my memory.

Some women wrote of experiencing a sort of psychic trauma immediately after the abortion. Patricia wrote:
When I came out of the anesthetic I began to panic. I was dreaming or imagining where have they taken the soul of my baby. I felt robbed; I felt something hideous, terrifying. I was in a state of fright and shock. All I remember is thinking, “Where have they taken my baby?”

A significant number of respondents suffered physical sideeffects, ranging from heavy bleeding, sometimes for months, to infection and incompetent cervixes. A surprising number had to have a second procedure to remove “retained products.”

Mariah, from Melbourne, woke from the abortion in “excruciating pain.”

I began crying in pain, and as I lifted the sheets there was blood everywhere. The pain was unbearable, it was like a knife kept stabbing me in the stomach over and over again ... The nurse gave me an injection for the pain, but it didn’t help. About 15 minutes later she gave me another shot; it still didn’t help.

After the third shot she was so worried because I was still in pain that she called the head doctor who operated on me to take a look at me. When the doctor took the folder from the end of my bed and looked through the pieces of paper, he was shocked. He called the nurse over and asked if it was correct the amount of pain killer shots she’d given me. Because I was still crying and holding my stomach in pain, the doctor had no other choice but to inject me again ...

Lara, who underwent an abortion at the age of 21 in 1996, also suffered physically.

I began to have pains in my stomach and I rang the 24-hour
hotline where they told me to go back. I did this and I was given a course of antibiotics and treated for an infection in the womb. I was not really impressed with the service, as it appeared that they had no records of my procedure. A week later I was still suffering pains in my stomach and they were getting to the point I could hardly walk. I was rushed [to the hospital] ... I was told I was not the only one who had gone through this after a termination ...

I remained in hospital for four days ... I broke out in hives from the medication ... My condition was only getting worse ... I was now unable to walk ... [I was] told that my body was probably just in shock. [A few months later] I found myself still going through the emotions of a pregnant woman, and close to the day I would have had my baby, I had labor pains. I lay on the floor in pain, crying and alone ...

Ginny, a mother of two, also says she was not made aware of the implications of the abortion. She was told only that the abortion was “similar to a [D&C].” Ginny has been hospitalized on psychiatric grounds a number of times since the abortion and has not been able to return to work. She suffers stress-related skin conditions, self-mutilates and experiences terrible nightmares. At the time of writing, she was undergoing shock therapy.

I would hear a baby crying in my sleep or I would get up thinking I had to breastfeed or just getting up to check on the baby, but it was hearing a baby crying that was the worst. No one prepared me for the years of nightmares, the feelings of guilt and the pain.

A number of women wrote or spoke of subsequent problems with infertility. Katarina wrote:

I was told I may not be able to have children because of problems with my ovaries and ... fallopian tubes. If I cannot have children—after aborting [one] and miscarrying another—I will die of an unfulfilled heart.

Theresa lost four babies as a result of miscarriage and stillbirth. She attributes these losses to two abortions six years earlier.

Another woman, Trish, wonders if there is a connection between abortion and cervical cancer, having had three procedures to remove abnormal cells. She had two abortions, forced by her previous husband and, though having two children from that relationship, is not able to have any with her new husband because of the abnormal growths and related problems.

The more common abortion aftereffects experienced by those contributing to this book include uncontrolled crying, dreaming of babies, grief reactions on the date the baby would have been born, fantasizing about the baby, depression, emotional numbness, sleep disorders and anger.

A woman in her sixties wrote anonymously about the abortion her husband made her have almost 40 years ago:

I tried to live with having an abortion, but I lost my confidence in life and have been a very frightened person inside. The veneer that I parade in front of family and the world is very false.

The below is for the well endowed mathematical minds. Without knowledge of Greek and Hebrew, I really cannot figure this stuff out. However, may be interesting.

IS GOD A MATHEMATICIAN?

The authenticity of the Holy Bible has been attacked at regular intervals by atheists and theologians alike but none have explained away the mathematical seal beneath its surface.

It would seem the divine hand has moved to prevent counterfeiting in the pages of the Bible in a similar manner to the line that runs through paper money. Bible numerics appears to be God's watermark of authenticity.

Vital research on this numeric seal was completed by a native of the world's most renowned atheistic nation, Russia. Dr Ivan Panin was born in Russia on Dec 12, 1855. As a young man he was an active nihilist and participated in plots against the Czar and his government. He was a mathematical genius who died a Harvard scholar and a citizen of the United States in 1942.

Panin was exiled from Russia. After spending a number of years studying in Germany he went to the United States where he became an outstanding lecturer on literary criticism.

Panin was known as a firm agnostic - so well known that when he discarded his agnosticism and accepted the Christian faith, the newspapers carried headlines telling of his conversion.

It was in 1890 that Dr Panin made the discovery of the mathematical structure underlining the vocabulary of the Greek New Testament. He was casually reading the first verse of the gospel of John in the Greek: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with the God and the Word was God...".

Dr Panin was curious as to why the Greek word for "the"' preceded the word "God"' in one case and not the other. In examining the text he became aware of a number relationship. This was the first of the discoveries that led to his conversion and uncovered the extensive numeric code.

Oldest manuscripts
Dr Panin found his proof in the some of the oldest and most accurate manuscripts - the Received Hebrew Text and the Westcott and Hort Text.

In the original languages of the Bible, mostly Hebrew and Greek, there are no separate symbols for numbers, letters of the alphabet are also used to indicate numbers.

The numeric value of a word is the sum total of all its letters. It was curiosity that first caused Dr Panin to begin toying with the numbers behind the texts. Sequences and patterns began to emerge. These created such a stirring in the heart of the Russian that he dedicated 50 years of his life to painstakingly comb the pages of the Bible.

This complex system of numbering visibly and invisibly saturates every book of the scriptures emphasizing certain passages and illustrating deeper or further meaning in types and shadows. The 66 books of the Bible 39 in the Old and 27 in the New were written by 33 different people.

Those authors were scattered throughout various countries of the world and from widely different backgrounds. Many of them had little or no schooling. The whole Bible was written over a period of 1500 years with a 400 year silence apart from the Apocrypha between the two testaments. Despite the handicaps the biblical books are found to be a harmonious record, each in accord with the other.

Dr Panin says the laws of probability are exceeded into the billions when we try and rationalize the authorship of the Bible as the work of man. He once said: "If human logic is worth anything at all we are simply driven to the conclusion that if my facts I have presented are true, man could never have done this.

Inspiration from on high
"We must assume that a Power higher than man guided the writers in such a way, whether they knew it or not, they did it and the Great God inspired them to do it''.

The Bible itself states clearly that it is the literal God-breathed'' living word of the Creator. The words "Thus saith the Lord"' and "God said"' occur more than 2500 times throughout scripture.

In 2 Timothy 3:16 it states "All scripture is given by inspiration of God". Then in 2 Peter 9:20-21 it plainly states: "No prophecy of the scriptures is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost".

Let's take the number seven as an illustration of the way the patterns work. Seven is the most prolific of the mathematical series which binds scripture together. The very first verse of the Bible "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen 1:1), contains over 30 different combinations of seven.

This verse has seven Hebrew words having a total of 28 letters 4 x 7. The numeric value of the three nouns "God", "heaven" and "earth" totals 777. Any number in triplicate expresses complete, ultimate or total meaning.

Also tightly sealed up with sevens are the genealogy of Jesus, the account of the virgin birth and the resurrection. Seven occurs as a number 187 times in the Bible (41 x 7), the phrase "seven-fold" occurs seven times and "seventy" occurs 56 times (7 x 8).

In the Book of Revelation seven positively shines out: there are seven golden candlesticks, seven letters to seven churches, a book sealed with seven seals, seven angels standing before the Lord with seven trumpets, seven thunders and seven last plagues. In fact there are over 50 occurrences of the number seven in Revelation alone.

Divisible by seven
There are 21 Old Testament writers whose names appear in the Bible (3 x 7). The numeric value of their names is divisible by seven. Of these 21, seven are named in the New Testament: Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea and Joel. The numeric values of these names is 1554 (222 x 7). David's name is found 1134 times (162 x 7).

God's seal also pervades creation as though it were woven into the very fabric of nature.

The Bible has declared man's years to be three score and ten (70). The development of the human embryo is in exact periods of sevens or 28 days (4 x 7). Medical science tells us the human body is renewed cell for cell every seven years.

We're told the pulse beats slower every seven days as if it were in accord with the seventh day of rest proclaimed in the Genesis creation week. And God formed man of the dust of the ground (Gen 2:7); science confirms the human body is made of the same 14 elements (2 x 7) found in your average handful of dust.

The light of the sun is made up of seven distinct colors as shown in the rainbow. In music there are seven distinct notes which climax in a chord or octave at the beginning of a new seven.

In almost all animals the incubation or pregnancy period is divisible by seven. Seven is often referred to as "God's seal" or the number of spiritual perfection.

Number of resurrection
Eight is the number of new life or "resurrection". It is the personal number of Jesus. When we add together the letter values of the name Jesus in the Greek we get 888. Jesus was called The Christ, the numeric value of this title is 1480 (185 x 8). He was Savior which has the value 1408 (2 x 8 x 88).

Jesus is also Lord which again is a multiple of eight being 800 (100 x 8). Messiah has the numeric value 656 (82 x8). Jesus also called himself the Son of man. The term occurs 88 times and is valued at 2960 (370 x 8).

Jesus said "I am the truth": the numeric value of "the truth" is 64 (8 x 8). The last book in the Bible is the Revelation of Jesus Christ which has exactly 888 Greek words. Eight persons were saved in the Ark at the great Nomadic flood. God made a covenant with Abraham that every male Jewish child was to be circumcised on the eighth day of his life.

There are eight individual cases of resurrection spoken of in the Bible apart from Jesus. Three occur in the Old Testament, three in the gospels and two in Acts. It was on the eighth day or the first day of the new week that Jesus rose from the dead. The Holy Spirit also came down from heaven on the eighth day.

Nine is finality or completion. The first example of its use is that infinitely sealed first verse of the Bible: "In the beginning God'' which in Hebrew is: Brayshith Elohim which has the numeric value of 999. The very next statement "created the heaven" is also sealed with 999.

Nine is finality
The number nine is endowed with a peculiar quality, it is finality in itself. Not only is it the final single number, but if you multiply it by any other number, the addition of the resulting figures will always revert back to nine (2 x 9 = 18 / 1 + 8 = 9 etc).

There are nine basic gifts available to the Christian believer through the power of God's Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:8-10). There are nine basic fruits which should be evident in the life of the believer (Gal 5:22-23). The words "my wrath" have the numeric value 999. The word Amen or verily is valued at 99 and occurs 99 times.

The work on the cross was completed at the ninth hour when Jesus said "It is finished". The shedding of his blood was final. It saw an end to the old system of animal sacrifice to atone for sin. The word "blood" in this sense occurs 99 times.

Great superstition has always surrounded the number 13 as being unlucky or dark. Perhaps there is good reason. One of the most convincing proofs of the origins of this number can be found by unraveling all the names by which Satan is known. Drakon or dragon has a value of 975 (13 x 75) and it occurs 13 times. Peirazon or tempter has a value of 1053 (13 x 81). Belial which is personification of evil has a value of 78 (13 x 6).

Anthropoktonos or "murderer" has a value of 1820 (13 x 40). Ophis or "serpent" is 780 (13 x 60). The phrase used by the Holy Spirit Ho kaloumenos diablos kai ho Satanas or "called the Devil and Satan" is valued 2197 (13 x 13 x 13).

Small neat calculations
This article is in truth an oversimplification of the work of Dr Panin and others who followed in his footsteps. Dr Panin's work initially involved some 40,000 pages of material on which he had written millions of small neat calculations. It involved volumes.

He often labored up to 18 hours a day exploring the vast numeric structure. By and large it was a thankless task. Dr Panin said "When I first made the discovery I was of course, taken off my feet - I was in the same condition as our friend Archimedes who when he solved a great mathematical problem while in the bath, rushed in to the street naked, crying 'I have found it'. I thought people would be delighted to embrace the new discovery, but I found human nature is always the same. So I quietly withdrew and did my work all by myself".

Although it would appear that his work has been largely lost from popular reading today Dr Panin did accomplish several outstanding works. He published Structure in the Bible the Numeric Greek New Testament and the Numeric English New Testament.

The works of Dr Ivan Panin have been put before the experts many times. Dr Panin once challenged nine noted rationalists and Bible critics through the medium of the New York Sun newspaper Nov 9, 1899. He dared them to publicly refute or give explanation for a few of his presented facts. Four made lame excuses. The rest were silent.

Dr Panin issued a challenge throughout leading newspapers of the world asking for a natural explanation or rebuttal of the facts. Not a single person accepted.

He was to devote over 50 years of his life painstakingly exploring the numerical structure of the Scriptures, generating over 43,000 detailed, hand-penned pages of analysis (and exhausting his health in the process). He went on to be with the Lord in his 87th year, on October 30, 1942.
The Heptadic Structure
The recurrence of the number seven--or an exact multiple of seven--is found throughout the Bible and is widely recognized. The Sabbath on the seventh day; the seven years of plenty and the seven years of famine in Egypt; the seven priests and seven trumpets marching around Jericho; the Sabbath Year of the land are well-known examples.

Also, Solomon's building the Temple for seven years, Naaman's washing in the river seven times, and the seven churches, seven lamp stands, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven bowls, seven stars, and so on in the Book of Revelation, all show the consistent use of the number seven.

But there turns out to be much more below the surface. Ivan Panin noted the amazing numerical properties of the Biblical texts--both the Greek of the New Testament and the Hebrew of the Old Testament. These are not only intriguing to discover, they also demonstrate an intricacy of design which testifies to a supernatural origin!

Vocabulary
One of the simplest--and most provocative--aspects of the Biblical text is the vocabulary used. The number of vocabulary words in a passage is normally different from the total number of words in a passage. Some words are repeated. It is easy, for example, to use a vocabulary of 500 words to write an essay of 4,000 words.

An Example
The first 17 verses of the Gospel of Matthew are a logical unit, or section, which deals with a single principal subject: the genealogy of Christ. It contains 72 Greek vocabulary words in these initial 17 verses. (The verse divisions are man's allocations for convenience, added in the 13th century.)

The number of words which are nouns is exactly 56, or 7 x 8.

The Greek word "the" occurs most frequently in the passage: exactly 56 times, or 7 x 8. Also, the number of different forms in which the article "the" occurs is exactly 7.

There are two main sections in the passage: verse 1-11, and 12-17. In the first main section, the number of Greek vocabulary words used is 49, or 7 x 7.

Why not 48, or 50?

Of these 49 words, the number of those beginning with a vowel is 28, or 7 x 4. The number of words beginning with a consonant is 21, or 7 x 3.

The total numbers of letters in these 49 words is 266, or 7 x 38-- exactly! The number of vowels among these 266 letters is 140, or 7 x 20. The number of consonants is 126, or 7 x 18--exactly.

Of the 49 words, the number of words which occur more than once is 35, or 7 x 5. The number of words occurring only once is 14, or 7 x 2. The number of words which occur in only one form is exactly 42, or 7 x 6. The number of words appearing in more than one form is also 7.

The number of the 49 Greek vocabulary words which are nouns is 42, or 7 x 6. The number of words which are not nouns is 7. Of the nouns, 35 are proper names, or exactly 7 x 5. These 35 names are used 63 times, or 7 x 9. The number of male names is exactly 28, or 7 x 4. These male names occur 56 times or 7 x 8. The number which are not male names is 7.

Three women are mentioned-- Tamar, Rahab, and Ruth. The number of Greek letters in these three names is 14, 7 x 2.

The number of compound nouns is 7. The number of Greek letters in these 7 nouns is 49, or 7 x 7.

Only one city is named in this passage, Babylon, which in Greek contains exactly 7 letters.

And on it goes. To get an indication of just how unique these properties are, try the example in the inset.

Gametria

There are even more features in the numerical structure of the words themselves. As you may know, both Hebrew and Greek uses the letters of the alphabet for numerical values. Therefore, any specific word--in either Hebrew or Greek--has a numerical value of its own by adding up the values of the letters in that particular word. The study of the numerical values of words is called gametria.

The 72 vocabulary words add up to a gametrical value of 42,364, or 7 x 6,052. Exactly. If one Greek letter was changed, this would not happen.

The 72 words appear in 90 forms--some appear in more than one form. The numeric value of the 90 forms is 54,075, or 7 x 7,725. Exactly.

We will defer other examples of gametrical properties of the Biblical text for subsequent articles, but it becomes immediately obvious that hidden below the surface are aspects of design that cannot be accidental or just coincidence. Remember, the rabbis say that "coincidence" is not a kosher word!

Other Implications

There are words in the passage just described that occur nowhere else in the New Testament. They occur 42 times (7 x 6) and have 126 letters (7 x 18). How was this organized?

Even if Matthew contrived this characteristic into his Gospel, how could he have known that these specific words--whose sole characteristic is that they are found nowhere else in the New Testament--were not going to be used by the other writers? Unless we assume the absurd hypothesis that he had an agreement with them, he must have had the rest of the New Testament before him when he wrote his book. The Gospel of Matthew, then, must have been written last.

It so happens, however, that the Gospel of Mark exhibits the same phenomenon. It can be demonstrated that it would have had to be written "last." The same phenomenon is found in Luke. And in John, James, Peter, Jude and Paul. Each would have had to write after the other in order to contrive the vocabulary frequencies! You can demonstrate that each of the New Testament books had to have been "written last."

There is no human explanation for this incredible and precise structure. It has all been supernaturally designed. We simply gasp, sit back, and behold the skillful handiwork of the God who keeps His promises.

And we are indebted to the painstaking examinations and lifetime commitment of Dr. Ivan Panin for uncovering these amazing insights.

THE CREATION VERSE (Genesis 1:1)

The numeric features in this section are from Ivan Panin's book, "The Inspiration of the Hebrew Scriptures Scientifically Demonstrated," published by The Book Society of Canada Ltd., Agincourt, Ontario.

Ivan Panin's study of Genesis 1:1 remains one of the landmark studies in Bible Numerics. Here he used the value of the letters along with the "place values" of those letters. The chart of place values is directly below.

Features In The Whole Verse
The entire verse has 7 words.
There are 28 letters (7 x 4).
The three leading nouns in the verse (God, heaven, earth) have a numeric value of 777.
Their place value sum is 147 (7 x 7 x 3).

Features In The First Part
The sum of the first 3 words forming a complete sentence has 14 (7 x 2) place values (in red). Their sum is 140 (7 x 5 x 4) .
Of these 14 letters, eight are even (2, 20, 10, 22, 2, 20, 12, 10). Their sum is 98 (7 x 7 x 2).
This leaves the sum of the odd place values at 42 (140 - 98 = 42). 42 = 7 x 6
Three letters are wholly or partially silent (1, 5, 10). They appear in the first 14 letters: 1 10 1 1 5 10. The sum of these numbers is 28 (7 x 4).
If the first 14 place values are multiplied by the position in which they appear:

There are 7 factors, and the sum of these factors is 21 (7 x 3).
(a) marks the products less than 10: 2, 3, and 9. The sum is 14 (7 x 2).
(b) marks products produced by place values less than 10: 2, 3, 14, 9, 10, 60. The sum is 98 (7 x 7 x 2).
The sum of the products produced by place values greater or equal to 10 is: 910 (1008 -910).
The units of the products alone: 2, 0, 3, 4, 0, 2, 4, 0, 9, 0, 2, 0, 0, 2. The sum is 28 (7 x 4).

This is only a portion of Ivan Panin's Genesis 1:1 study. There are many other elaborate constructions. Creation is an intricate process.

Most people will now ask, "What about the last half of the verse? What features are there?" Now if the last half had features similar in quality and quantity as the first half, then logically the second portion must be as important as the first. It should even be able to stand on its own. A quick check of the grammar shows this is not so. The last part lists what God made. This is not as important as God creating it!

Since the last part cannot stand on its own, it should not have as many features as the beginning. The first part gives us the most important concept: God creates. The second part changes the first part into a different statement. Taken together, the verse tells us God created everything. In fact, the whole verse must be used to find other numeric features. And this is exactly what Ivan Panin demonstrates with the rest of his study on Genesis 1:1.

OBAMA'S TROUBLING INTERNET FUND RAISING

Certainly the most interesting and potentially devastating phone call I have received during this election cycle came this week from one of the Obama's campaign internet geeks. These are the staffers who devised Obama's internet fund raising campaign which raised in the neighborhood of $200 million so far. That is more then twice the total funds raised by any candidate in history and this was all from the internet campaign.

What I learned from this insider was shocking but I guess we should not be surprised that when it comes to fund raising there simply are no rules that cant be broken and no ethics that prevail. Obama's internet campaign started out innocently enough with basic e-mail networking , lists saved from previous party campaigns and from supporters who visited any of the Obama campaign web sites.

Small contributions came in from these sources and the internet campaign staff were more than pleased by the results.

Then, about two months into the campaign the daily contribution intake multiplied. Where was it coming from? One of the web site security monitors began to notice the bulk of the contributions were clearly coming in from overseas internet service providers and at the rate and frequency of transmission it was clear these donations were programmed by a very sophisticated user.

While the security people were not able to track most of the sources due to firewalls and other blocking devices put on these contributions they were able to collate the number of contributions that were coming in seemingly from individuals but the funds were from only a few credit card accounts and bank electronic funds transfers. The internet service providers (ISP) they were able to trace were from Saudi Arabia , Iran , and other Middle Eastern countries. One of the banks used for fund transfers was also located in Saudi Arabia .

Another concentrated group of donations was traced to a Chinese ISP with a similar pattern of limited credit card charges.

It became clear that these donations were very likely coming from sources other than American voters. This was discussed at length within the campaign and the decision was made that none of these donations violated campaign financing laws.

It was also decided that it was not the responsibility of the campaign to audit these millions of contributions as to the actual source (specific credit card number or bank transfer account numbers) to insure that none of these internet contributors exceeded the legal maximum donation on a cumulative basis of many small donations. They also found the record keeping was not complete enough to do it anyway.

This is a shocking revelation.

We have been concerned about the legality of bundling contributions after the recent exposure of illegal bundlers but now it appears we may have an even greater problem.

I guess we should have been somewhat suspicious when the numbers started to come out. We were told (no proof offered) that the Obama internet contributions were from $10.00 to $25.00 or so.

If the $200,000,000 is right, and the average contribution was $15.00, that would mean over 13 million individuals made contributions? That would also be 13 million contributions would need to be processed. How did all that happen?

I believe the Obama campaign internet fund raising needs a serious, in depth investigation and audit. It also appears the whole question of internet fund raising needs investigation by the legislature and perhaps new laws to insure it complies not only with the letter of these laws but the spirit as well.

Unique Idea for Disposals

Even though I don't have a garbage disposal under our sink anymore, I get stuff on "green development." Green development is when we use sustainable practices in building a community or maintaining a home. I hope to publish ideas from this on my blog. Here's a start:

If you use the garbage disposal, use cold water - which is energy efficient - to help speed up the process. Cold water will help solidify grease and oils, making the disposal work more efficiently. And remember: To keep the disposal clean and fresh, run ice and lemons through it. The ice will help sharpen the blades and the lemon eliminates odors.

I ran into this big storm on way to Centerville to see my family at the Sharon Bluff Bible Camp. It poured hard for 40 miles and lightly all the rest of the way from Thayer to Centerville. Ran into hail around Osceola. I had to drive 35 MPH much of the way.

Floods of 2008 hit our house

Check out the fun time we had outside and inside on June 4th, 2008. We had fun moving water trying to avoid what would be 6 inches in our basement. Two tornado warnings that night, the second of which was a supercell, the granddaddy of all thunderstorms. F2 or F3 tornado hit just south of town. Barns and stuff destroyed but no homes and no injuries.

We ended up having the basement flood or have backed up sewer six to ten times with 1 to 6 inches deep each time. It came about that we had our drain clog the first time and so it would back up each big rain. Now we are getting a new roof and gutters because of the hail that night plus bunches of small jobs done with FEMA and insurance money. We lost some possessions in our basement and had to have our water heater relit several times. Thanks to our friend, Ken, who helped us light it. Glad we haven't had any major rain since July 25th.

Kansas St. Prayer

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly
what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of (GUTLESS) legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Mr. Wright ministers, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea . Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

Saving on gas - tips from someone who should know - not me

The following is from someone who works in the petroleum industry.

My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here
are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon:

* Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer
gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon
is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity
and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products
plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
* When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. Ifyou are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
* One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline
evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
* Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being
delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Yes, and lastly, do not swear and curse when you pay way too much for gas. Just remember that your government a) refuses to drill in the US, b) won't tap Iraqi oil, c) helps the big auto companies suppress the development of fuel efficient cars, and d) keeps out competition with new vehicles. Don't swear and curse: instead pray and vote.

Grasshopper and the ant

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'
Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.
Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients.
The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008

Mark Started LItlle League today

Our little hoop shooting stud, who is now a week from being 8, started Little League practice today. A nice coach and a boy from his Cub Scouts is on his team. Games to start soon. He's a bit rusty but excited to play. Lexie and Hannah will start girl T-ball soon too. Summer, fun but busy.

Mark's birthday is next week. We plan to have a party this Saturday afternoon if the weather is decent. You can send checks to daddy....ha ha.

Kali Moore Memorial Garden

Some of you may remember Creston's own Kali Moore, the daughter of a faithful and beloved Christian Denise Moore in our town. Denise is one that always has a good word and never a bad word for anyone or any situation. She is one of a kind, a real Barnabas. Kali, who was also faithful, was killed in a tragic accident last summer along with two of her friends. The fourth person survived but was injured.

Being a grant writer, I know of this program our local Des Moines news TV station has due each April 1, called the KCCI Project Mainstreet Grant. It is very competitive, but they like small projects that can be completed in a summer. They come out and interview the community before and after the project and put it on TV. Well, we applied via the church of Christ as a sponsor, and we were one of five projects selected for $3,000 for a perennial memorial garden. A summer that is going to be very busy as it is will now be even busier, as we design and build this thing to honor these youths and others that die so tragically. It will be a great project for the church to go out and do something in the public eye that makes a real lasting difference.

The Iowana Hotel

In downtown Creston, Iowa, on a hilltop,there is a six-story building,
by far the tallest in the city, that was once a high-end hotel. The
building has been vacant and abandoned for 25-years, is owned by a guy
in Hong Kong. Up till now he wasn't willing to sell it. I have been
trying for years to find a way to either save or demolish this
building.

However, I met a man...get your head out of the gutter...at a
conference in Des Moines last year. He was presenting to us about the
state and federal Historic Tax Credit programs. I pulled him aside to
talk to him about our building. He gave me a card. However, it was
months, until around Feb. 1, 2008 that I contacted him. I was
interested and sent an architect to tour it and go over things.
Their website is www.metroplains.com. They do historic renovations
mostly in small to mid-sized cities all over the upper Midwest.
He came down and did a tour with me and about 6 other city fathers and
mothers and we went inside. I found graffiti, 2 dead cats, dozens of
dead birds, one living thing that scurried away before we could
identify it, and tons of dung. I'd hate to go in there during the heat
of the summer instead of late March when we went. Needless to say,
the company is interested. If they can acquire it for $1 plus title
transfer costs and get the right grants, they intend to remodel this
building into a 25-unit apartment building with 1st floor office
space.

It will be an amazing project. Hope for the best, and I'll post more
as we go.

Be aware of some things..

The FCC is proposing a bunch of regulations to the airwaves that would cause a big rise in costs to radio stations on top of regulating what you can say on the air. You don’t have to believe in God or care about Christian radio because it will affect all freedoms on the air. When you go to the following website, it will have a link on the right that says ‘save Christian radio stations.’ You click on it and it will take you to the FCC website that gives you all the regulations that they are proposing. If you do not think it is okay for the government to massively sensor the airwaves, then you need to voice your opinion. The last date to do so is Monday, April 28th. www.klove.com is the website. Okay, so I missed this deadline, but we still can call our Congressperson and boldly but friendly request that the so-called "fairness doctrine" be stopped. It is only a cover to create all liberal radio.

The other thing is the movie Expelled: No intelligence allowed. This is a movie by Ben Stein concerning the hypocrisy of the science academia and other branches of academia that persecutes anyone that does not conform to believing hook, line, and sinker in Darwin ’s theory of evolution. It is being criticized strongly by the evolutionists that do not want you to see it. In this day of people preaching tolerance, thinking for yourself, etc. there is blatant efforts to stop investigation and criticism of the evolution theory; in other words, you can think for yourself, just as long as you think what we tell you. No "intelligent design" beside "Darwinism" even. Truth does not fear investigation. In all the debates I have ever seen no science facts have been given to support the theory, only the statements of what they believe to happen. Students in our universities and even high schools that question the science teacher about the holes in the evolution theory were made fun of and sure to get a bad grade. No matter what you believe, it shows the hypocrisy of our society. See it and form your own opinion. That is freedom.

This topic is very potent to me, as I am a graduate of Iowa State University. An astronomy professor there this past year was denied tenure because he, on the side, not using his university time and money, published a popular book, "The priviledged planet". An athiest religion studies teacher, NOW THATS AN OXYMORON, raised a stink and got some others on his side to protest the professor's tenure application, and it was denied. I emailed the college president last year, as an alumnus, and asked him for an explanation and demanded that his religious views that do not impact his scholarly work should not be a factor in his tenure. The president did actually write back but only stated that the reason was "Mr. Gonzales work was not to the trajectory of a tenured professor." In other words, we did not bring big grants and donors to the school. I replied back that his reasoning is a joke. This story is interviewed on the movie. I hope to go see it.

The Christian and Civic Life

The Christian is to live in harmony with God while living in this society. To live in harmony, we must live in subjection with the governing authorities. We have studied in church the role of Christian in the civic life. The Christian is told by God in Romans 13 to be in subjection to the governing authorities because they are 1) ordained by God, 2) given to be ministers of justice and righteousness, and 3) given a sword for a reason. We have learned much from studying this topic, even though it is challenging to accept that God is putting these governments in power, when they: 1) endorse homosexuality, 2) take away our religious freedoms, 3) endorse abortion, and 4) many leaders are corrupt. Remember, God uses the government to both lead and judge the people. They are a reflection of us. Therefore, we must live rightly, vote, and participate in government as much as God has given grace to us to do so.

If we pray only and do not vote, we are like the parable Jesus told about the man who said to the person in need, "hope you are are okay," (my paraphrase) but refuses to lift a finger to help the person in need. Pray, then participate in the process, then vote. In God we trust.

Frugal Ideas

A sealed envelope - Put in the freezer for a few hours, then slide a knife under the flap. The envelope can then be resealed.

Use Empty toilet paper roll to store appliance cords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs to.

For icy door steps in freezing temperatures: get warm water and put Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won't refreeze.

To remove old wax from a glass candle holder put it in the freezer for a few hours. Then take the candle holder out and turn it upside down. The wax fall out.

VBS this Summer

With warm days coming up, it makes me think of my favorite season, summer.

Soon it will be time to plan VBS and I really want us to have one here in our church this year. Any suggestions or stories of your VBS experience? We'd love to hear them.

LeBron's Conference Call on the Adrenal Gland

Dr. LeBron Long again gave an excellent presentation on the adrenal gland and how stress affects it. Did you know:
1. Stress is the single largest cause of financial loss of employers, as employees miss work
2. Stress is the single largest cause of sickness.
3. Stress is not an emotion but rather the wear and tear on your body that often causes negative emotions.
4. Stress on our body is like lack of maintenance on a car or house, and like "gunning" a car. While stomping on the gas has quick results, it results in rapid wear that shows up later.

Food we eat, air we breathe, and water we drink, along with emotional stressors, such as overwork are the main causes.

The adrenal gland regulates the output of several substances that have important health affects. It is a "rush" reflex. However, continued high stress can cause it to wear out, which releases cortisol. I'm sure you've heard of this chemical, which is often blamed for belly fat, etc. Cortisol causes the cell structures to break down, which leads to premature aging and illness.

LeBron Long, a Naturpathic Doctor, did his 200+ page dissertation on "adaptagens," of which 40 or so have been found to date.
